Resumen:

Air pollution is a leading cause of death worldwide, particularly affecting big cities in emerging economies. In this project, we estimate the effect of COVID-19 lockdowns on air quality in Bogotá. Using epidemiology models, we translate the air quality improvements into avoided deaths in the short and long run. In addition, we quantify the economic value of the decreased mortality and explore the distributional, temporal, and spatial effects.
